Christmas Star

I wanted a new star for my Christmas tree but I didn’t find anything I liked in the stores then I learned how to make these stars out of paper and I really like them.  They are a great project for Christmas time. You can make one for your tree topper or just make them out of different colored paper to use for decorations all over the house.

You will need two sheets of paper, a glue stick and paper clips, or double-sided tape, and white glue.

  • Cut each piece of paper into a square.
  • Fold in half, then open it and fold it in half the other way.
  • Fold it diagonally.
  • Open it and make a mark about 1 3/4 inch from the edge if you are using 8-inch squares, or about 2 1/2 inches if you are using 12 inch squares.
  • Make a cut to the mark on each side of the square.
  • Fold each cut edge to the center forming a four-cornered star.
  • Apply glue or double-sided tape to one side of the point.
  • Fold one side over the other and stick it down.
  • If you are using glue use paperclips to hold it until it dries.
  • Fold your second paper square so that you have two identical four-point stars.
  • Put one top of the other and make light marks so you will have an idea where to put your glue.
  • Glue the two stars together and let them dry.

The large star was done using 12-inch square paper, and the smaller ones were using 81/2-inch squares.  For my Christmas tree topper the smaller size was perfect.
