Pinecone Garland

I love picking up pinecones.  They feel like Christmas to me.  I tuck them between my Christmas tree branches and set baskets of them on shelves with bits of ivy.  I’m always looking for ways to use my pine cones and I think this pine cone garland is one of the best.  I make them and hang them in windows, and on banisters, on fireplace mantels and anywhere that needs to look like Christmas.

The only things you will need for this project is pinecones and dark brown yarn.

I like to use smallish uniform pine cones for my garland, but you could experiment with bigger, different shaped ones and see how you like it.

  • Start by cutting two pieces of yarn the length you want for your garland.
  • Take both strands of yarn in one hand and tie a knot near the end
  • separate the strands and place a pinecone in between them
  • pull  the yarn on either side of the pinecone working the yarn down into it
  • take both strands of yarn and make another knot working it down close to your pinecone
  • continue adding pinecones with a knot between each one until you have your desired length

I will show you how in this video.
